Overview
This peak is the most challenging in Rwenzori Ranges but satisfying, Weismann’s Peak sits at 4,620M This trek will take you 6 days, and passes through some of the most stunning ranges of Rwenzori mountain. You are advised to do it in Mid-December to the end of Feb and June to the end of July.
You must be physically feet.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Nyakalengija (1648m) to Nyabitaba hut (2651)
Begin the day by approaching the Wilderness Adventure Safaris head offices in the evening or early in morning in order to Check on hiking equipments if so and arrange for guides, chef Portters once.
The trek starts from the park gate 1646M to Nyabitaba a distance of 7km takes 4-5 hours and an ascent of 1200 meters.The trail at the beginning goes through homes and fields progressing through bamboo and high elephant grass dense bushes.You will climb over the bluffs crossing river mahoma then ascending steeply into Nyabitaba.certain animals may be spotted such as the white and black colobus monkeys,three horned chameleon and the Rwenzori turaco birds. Stay an overnight at nyabitaba camp.
Day 2: Nyabitaba camp (2651) m to Guyeoman camp (3505)m
From Nyabitaba camp the trail takes you to the junction that connects the ant -clock wise moment to the clock wise.
The clock wise takes you through the bamboo forest to the kichuchu bridge.
After crossing the bridge the trail takes you to the left through the Heather /rupenia zone till to the kichuchu rock where the trail a gain ascends you steeply to Guyeoman camp for dinner and an overnight
Day 3: Guyeoman camp 3505m to Kitandara lakes camp 4023m From Guyeoman camp the trail take you to bujongolo rock shelter a cultural rock that acted as a rock shelter for the duck of Abruzz in 1906. After the rock shelter the trail ascends you slowly through big up to the fresh field pass down to kitandara lakes camp for dinner and an overnight. Day 4: Kitandara lakes camp 4023m to weismans peak 4620M The trail takes you through the afro Alpine zone and certain animals may be sighted here like the Rwenzori red mountain duiker and rock hyraxes. This trail takes you to the top of weismans peak 4843M after you return to kitandara lakes camp for dinner and an overnight. Day 5: kitandara lakes camp to Guyeoman for dinner and an overnight. After breakfast, your guides will lead you down to Geyeoman using the same trail that brought you up , you will have lunch in between then proceed to Geyeoman camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Guyeoman camp to nyabitaba for lunch and continue down to the offices for pick up.
Below Guy Yeoman, the route descends the cliffs of Kichuchu.
Beyond Kichuchu the muddy path crosses the Mubuku River twice through a bamboo forest before climbing downwards to Nyabitaba to complete the circuit.
Continue descending Nyabitaba Camp and complete your Hike by the evening to park the gate to end your 6 day Trek.
